Our Story

Welcome to MDJ Incorporated, a family-owned and operated business that has been shaping the architectural and construction landscape since 1989. Our founder and owner, Marcos Devers, brings a rich tapestry of experiences and expertise to the forefront of our operations.

Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Marcos embarked on a journey of learning and growth that took him across the globe. His educational journey is nothing short of impressive, from engineering training in Tokyo, Japan, sponsored by JICA, to obtaining a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the Universidad Autonoma De Santo Domingo. Marcos further honed his skills with remote sensing training in Rome, Italy, sponsored by UN-FAO, and pursued graduate courses at UMass Lowell and Salem State College. His commitment to continuous improvement led him to Endicott College for additional graduate courses in 2006.

In 1987, Marcos arrived in Lawrence, MA, where he began teaching and working as an engineer. Two years later, in 1989, he felt the calling to establish MDJ Incorporated. Marcos's vision was to create a company that seamlessly integrates architectural and structural engineering with a focus on meticulous project inspection and supervision.

Marcos Devers wears many hats at MDJ Incorporated, handling tasks that range from architectural and structural engineering design to overseeing projects involving site planning and navigating the permitting process with governmental boards. His expertise extends to working with bodies such as Zoning and Planning boards of appeals, Conservation and Historical divisions, city engineering, public works, and Inspection Services Departments.

One of Marcos's key responsibilities is writing, signing, and certifying essential documents, including structural soundness reports, fire protection narratives, and design-build affidavits. MDJ Incorporated specializes in projects involving buildings over 35,000 cubic feet capacity, catering to both relatively small residential and commercial structures in various cities and towns across Massachusetts.
